Helping businesses connect with talent

West Berkshire has an economically active rate of 86.7% for people between the ages of 16-64, around 10% higher than the England average. This means that there are many skilled people in the area to suit a range of roles for companies based in the district.

We work closely with local training providers to ensure that the high demand that is currently seen in the job market can be matched with the talent we have in the district.

West Berkshire Training Consortium

West Berkshire Training Consortium is the training provider for young people entering the workplace. They offer Apprenticeships and Traineeships to help young people take that first step into their careers. If you are a business looking to attract great young talent into your workforce then reach out to them to learn about the current support they offer.

Job Centre Plus

We work closely with the job centre to actively place people with the right skills into the right job. Recently we have seen success with the roll out of the Kickstart campaign, where the government has funded companies to take on a young person to work and learn for 6 months. This has had great success with many 16-24 year olds enrolled and working in a Kickstart position.
